The eastern corridor of the China-Europe Railway Express consists of three major railway ports: Manzhouli, Suifenhe, and Tongjiang. It currently operates 27 regularly scheduled routes, connecting 14 countries including Poland, Germany, and the Netherlands, and linking more than 60 Chinese cities such as Changsha, Zhengzhou, and Chengdu.

To handle growing cross-border traffic since the beginning of the year, China Railway Harbin Group has prioritized China-Europe Railway Express schedules by leveraging the intelligent “Digital Port” system to enhance coordination with customs and border inspection authorities. By streamlining the reception of broad-gauge trains and upgrading inspection technologies, it has cut customs clearance time at ports to as little as 30 minutes and boosted overall transport efficiency by nearly 10%.

Manzhouli Station, China’s largest railway port for trade with Russia, plays a crucial role as a cross-border logistics hub. It maintains a smooth flow for imported goods from arrival to departure by coordinating timely wagon pickup and delivery based on transshipment progress. As of Feb. 25, the station has handled 3.5088 million tons of import and export freight this year, up 191,600 tons (5.8 percent) year-on-year.

During this year’s Spring Festival holiday, Suifenhe Station focused on key cargoes such as imported coal, iron ore concentrate, and timber, alongside goods from local industrial parks. Leveraging the brand strength and operational efficiency of the China-Europe Railway Express, it streamlined customs clearance documentation and transshipment processes, handling over 178,000 tons of goods during the nine-day holiday.

Tongjiang North Station closely tracked outbound train schedules and the real-time flow of empty wagons, utilizing its coordinated “four yards and one depot” layout to ensure smooth departures. As of Feb. 25, the station has dispatched 37 outbound trains carrying 33,000 tons of goods, up 236.4% and 312.5% year-on-year, respectively.

The expansion and capacity-enhancement project of the Jiamusi-Tongjiang Railway is currently ongoing. Once completed, the handling capacity of Tongjiang Railway Port is set to triple, further unleashing the transport potential of the eastern corridor for the China-Europe Railway Express.
