China Inspection and Quarantine Times – A shipment of Polish canned salmon salad recently arrived at Meishan, a sub port of Ningbo, via ocean freight. After completing Customs declaration, on-site inspection, quarantine procedures, and online tax payment, the goods were officially cleared for entry into the Chinese market. Following successful market entries of Polish agri-food products such as APIS mead and flour, this latest high-quality product from Poland also marks the first time such products originating from CEECs have been imported into China.

Located in central Europe, Poland boasts an extensive coastline and abundant aquatic resources. The country has seen both its wild-caught and farm-raised aquatic products (26 varieties in total) gain export approval to China in recent years. The imported canned salmon salad, made from premium Polish salmon, has gained popularity among Chinese consumers for its distinctive flavor and superior quality.

“High-quality products from CEECs are gaining recognition among Chinese consumers through exhibitions and digital promotions," Chen Shuyan, person in charge of Ningbo Detianhou Supply Chain Services Co., Ltd., the importer for this batch of canned salmon, noted. "We participated in several government-led trade missions to CEECs with the Ningbo Municipal Government before finalizing the seven-dishes canned salmon salad. Throughout the import process, Ningbo Customs provided comprehensive guidance and facilitation covering market access compliance and Customs clearance procedures. The entire process, from declaration to cargo pickup, took less than 2 days, significantly boosting our operational efficiency.”

To ensure the efficient Customs clearance of canned salmon from CEECs, Ningbo Customs has been proactively informing importers about relevant product access policies and declaration requirements. It has also provided guidance to help businesses leverage facilitative measures such as the “Two-Step Declaration” process and paperless clearance, further optimizing the trade environment at the Port of Ningbo.

According to statistics, the total value of CEEC goods imported through the Port of Ningbo reached 6.27 billion yuan, including food imports worth 77.486 million yuan from January to July this year.

In the next phase, Ningbo Customs will continue to advance the development of smart Customs, innovate supervision models, and fully utilize the application scenario of “the One-stop Service for Imports from CEEC”. These efforts are aimed at delivering more precise and efficient services to facilitate the entry of high-quality products from CEECs into the Chinese market.
