Amid a booming global freight industry, Customs port of Ningbo Airport is witnessing a surge in activity: daily necessities, fresh produce, and raw materials from around the world are continuously arriving at the airport and swiftly distributed across China after Customs clearance.

According to statistics from Customs of Ningbo Airport, the total import value at the Customs port of Ningbo Airport exceeded 4 billion yuan from January to July this year, a year-on-year increase of 13.1 percent. Notably, imports from the EU alone amounted to 1.33 billion yuan, skyrocketing by 679 percent compared to the same period last year, reflecting robust growth momentum.
The continuous expansion of international air cargo shipping routes has been a key driver behind this import growth. Ningbo Airport currently operates 11 freight routes, covering major trading regions including Southeast Asia, North America, and Europe, effectively building “air bridges” that enhance global connectivity.
The growing route network has facilitated the influx of diverse goods through these “air bridges”. Machinery and electronic products remain the dominant category, accounting for over 70 percent of total imports. For example, from January to July this year, imports in this sector at the Customs port of Ningbo Airport reached 3.04 billion yuan, up 23.5 percent year-on-year. The timely supply of machinery and electronic products has strongly supported local manufacturing and ensured stable production chains in Ningbo. At the same time, increased imports of specialty foods and high-quality daily chemicals have further enriched consumer choices, meeting the demand for a better quality of life in Ningbo and surrounding regions.

Recently, a batch of auto parts was imported smoothly following swift Customs clearance. “These components require high precision and have tight delivery schedules, making efficient transportation and Customs procedures critical. The efficient service from Customs greatly reduced our transit time and storage costs,” said Pan Yinchen, Import-Export Project Manager at Zhejiang Geely Automobile Engineering Technology Development Co., Ltd.
Customs of Ningbo Airport has actively implemented the "Pro-Business Direct Access: Enterprise-Demand-Oriented Response" mechanism, providing tailored clearance solutions under the “Customized Enterprise-Specific Solutions” approach. By utilizing streamlined clearance procedures such as “advanced declaration” and “aggregate taxation”, the Customs authority completes necessary documentation reviews even before cargo arrives. Once shipments reach the Customs port, inspections and releases are handled promptly, ensuring uninterrupted R&D and production for enterprises and strengthening the competitive edge of local enterprises.
