According to China Railway Hohhot Group Co., Ltd., the freight trip No. 1293 of China-Europe Railway Express, loaded with auto parts and general merchandise, departed with a blast of its whistle from Erenhot Railway Port in Inner Mongolia on October 8, bringing the total number of trips via the Middle Corridor of the China-Europe Railway Express this year to over 3,000, beating last year's mark by 39 days. This witnesses the third consecutive year that the port has handled more than 3,000 freight trips from the China-Europe Railway Express annually.
As the sole rail port of entry and exit along the Middle Corridor of the China-Europe Railway Express, Erenhot Railway Port now serves 74 freight train routes connecting over 70 cities across more than 10 countries. It also links most of the train’s domestic originating cities in China. Since the first train passed through in 2013, the port has handled nearly 21,000 trips along the China-Europe Railway Express network. Over this period, the composition of goods has been significantly upgraded. The proportion of high-value-added products, including new energy vehicles and high-end machinery, has risen markedly, climbing from less than 10% originally to more than 40% today.
