Customs statistics show Ningbo's import-export volume with CEECs reached 30.67 billion yuan in H1 2023, marking a 13.7% year-on-year increase. Breakdown shows 5.42 billion yuan in imports and 25.25 billion yuan in exports, the latter representing 20.1% year-on-year growth. These figures demonstrate Ningbo's dynamic role as a strategic hub for China-CEEC cooperation, showcasing remarkable vitality and potential.
Key CEE trading partners include Poland, Slovakia, Greece, Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary, and Slovenia. Collectively, these nations represented nearly 90% of Ningbo's total CEE trade volume during the reporting period.
By category, Ningbo's export of M&E products to CEECs contributed 12.6 percentage points to the overall trade growth, with home appliances, electrical equipment, and auto parts serving as key drivers.
"CEE serves as the strategic springboard for our global expansion—not just a production hub, but also a collaborative innovation platform for green technologies between China and Europe," stated Yu Ke, Customs Affairs Director at Ningbo Minth Auto Technology Research & Development Co., Ltd. The company transfers China's core technologies and R&D achievements to its Serbia facility for localized production, optimizing supply chain costs while efficiently meeting automakers' customization demands.
In H1, the company's exports to CEECs totaled 250 million yuan, marking a 3.8-fold year-on-year increase.
Concurrently, Ningbo demonstrated strong import demand for CEE products. Specialty products from CEE, including Polish dairy, Hungarian wines, and Serbian agricultural by-products, enter the Chinese market via Ningbo Port. Ningbo-based companies also import high-value-added goods such as automobiles and electrical equipment from CEECs to expand their value chains.
To facilitate bilateral trade between Ningbo and CEEC, Ningbo Customs has deployed specialists to develop the "CEEC-China Agricultural & Food Product Import Eligibility Query" portal. This one-stop platform helps businesses verify importable product categories while systematically compiling EU export technical regulations. These resources are published via the China-CEEC Customs Information Center website to enhance enterprise services.
