BEIJING, March 6 (People's Daily Overseas Edition) (Reporter Li Xinpeng) — According to China Railway Shanghai Bureau Group Co., Ltd., the number of China-Europe (Central Asia) freight trains operated by Yangtze River Delta railways saw robust growth in the first two months of this year, with a total of 525 trains dispatched, representing a year-on-year increase of 27.3%. Complete vehicles, auto parts, daily chemical products and other goods have been continuously transported to countries along the train routes via China-Europe (Central Asia) freight services.
Since the inaugural China-Europe (Central Asia) freight train (Suzhou-Warsaw) was launched on September 29, 2013, the Yangtze River Delta region has developed its China-Europe (Central Asia) freight train services over more than a decade of market cultivation. The operating routes have expanded from one to the current 15, reaching 36 countries across Europe and Asia. These include 25 European countries such as Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom, as well as 11 Asian countries including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan.
Currently, the Yangtze River Delta region has established distinct outbound cargo characteristics: Yiwu to European countries primarily carries small commodities; Suzhou to Hamburg, Germany and Warsaw, Poland mainly transports electronic products and electrical appliances; and Hefei to Hamburg, Germany focuses on white home appliances and machinery products. In the first two months of this year, Yiwu's China-Europe (Central Asia) freight trains successfully dispatched 152 trains, transporting 16,000 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units).
