"The USB product became an unexpected breakout success in Germany, France, and Eastern European markets this year, with clients placing bulk orders exceeding 2 million units in one go," Yu Enbo, European Business Director of Ningbo Hongyi Electronics Technology Co., Ltd, explained while indicating the new product in the sample room yesterday.
Europe constitutes the company's primary export market, representing approximately 80 percent of its total export value. In the first three quarters of this year, the company's exports to European countries amounted to 890 million yuan, reflecting a substantial year-on-year growth of 43.9 percent.
This remarkable growth trajectory is primarily attributable to the company's sustained, high-intensity investment in research and development. In recent years, Hongyi Electronics has maintained an annual R&D expenditure exceeding 20 million yuan, leading to the launch of over 100 new product models each year. These products cover a diverse range of categories, including electric vehicle chargers and related supporting products, as well as USB Type C sockets.
As an industry bellwether, the power connector sector in Cixi is demonstrating strong growth momentum. The city now hosts over 50 power connector manufacturers, ten of which boast annual export volumes exceeding 100 million yuan. Supported by a diverse product portfolio, a complete range of varieties, and rapid iteration cycles, the local power connectorindustry continues to exhibit notable resilience amid a complex and volatile global trade environment.
Ningbo Kaifeng Electric Appliance Co., Ltd. has prioritized smart features in its product development strategy, integrating advanced technologies into conventional socket designs. The company recently obtained a patent for a lifting desktop socket that incorporates multiple power outlets, a wireless charging module, and a gas spring lift structure. This integrated design significantly improves user convenience and experience, helping the product gain rapid market acceptance after its launch.
"Intelligence and functional integration have not only enhanced product differentiation to sharpen our competitive edge, helping us secure both orders and price premiums, but also enabled us to respond swiftly to market trends and maintain leadership in the global marketplace," stated Shen Fengguang, Foreign Trade Manager at Kaifeng Electric Appliance. He added that several of the company’s smart sockets equipped with wireless fast-charging capabilities continue to sell strongly overseas, with European orders up 20 percent year-on-year.
According to Cixi Customs, power connector exports from Cixi reached 3.36 billion yuan in the first three quarters of the year, representing an 11.0 percent year-on-year increase. Notably, exports to the European Union stood at 2.54 billion yuan, accounting for 75.6 percent of the city’s total power connector exports and growing 13.9 percent compared to the same period last year.
