Briefing on Foods Trade between China and CEECs in the First Three Quarters of 2022

According to customs statistics, the total value of food trade between China and Central and Eastern European countries (hereinafter referred to as CEECs) was RMB4.71 billion in the first three quarters of 2022, a year-on-year decrease (the same below) of 3.9%, Among them, food exported to CEECs accounted for RMB2.66 billion, an increase of 10.8%; Food imported from CEECs reached RMB2.05 billion, a decrease of 18%.


The main features of food trade between China and CEECs in the first three quarters of 2022 are as follows:


1. Aquatic food, meat, vegetables and edible mushrooms were the main exported products.


In the first three quarters of 2022, China's exports of food to CEECs reached RMB2.66 billion, an increase of 10.8%, accounting for 0.5% of China's total exports to CEECs during the same period. Among them, the value of aquatic food was RMB580 million, down 5%; the value of meat was RMB240 million, up 14.4%; the value of vegetables and edible mushrooms was RMB230 million, up 18%.


2. Dairy products, corn, liquor and beverages were the main imported products.


In the first three quarters of 2022, China imported RMB2.05 billion of food from CEECs, down 18%, accounting for 1.3% of China's total imports from CEECs during the same period. Among them, the value of dairy products was RMB800 million, down 23.9%; the value of corn was RMB320 million, with no imports in the same period last year; the value of alcohol and beverages was RMB200 million, down 20.4%.


3. Poland, Bulgaria and Greece were the top three food trading partners.


In the first three quarters of 2022, the value of China's food imported from and exported to Poland, Bulgaria and Greece reached RMB2.05 billion, RMB760 million, and RMB530 million respectively, with a decrease of 12.3%, an increase of 91.5% and an increase of 39.4%, accounting for 43.5%, 16.1% and 11.3% of the total value of China's food imported from and exported to CEECs in the same period.
