According to Customs statistics , the total bilateral trade volume between China and Central and Eastern European countries (hereinafter referred to as CEECs) was RMB863.06 billion in 2021, up 23.3% year-on-year (similarly hereinafter). Of these, those exported to CEECs accounted for RMB642.14 billion, an increase of 25.1%; Those imported from CEECs reached RMB220.92 billion, an increase of 18.3%.
The main features of bilateral trade between China and CEECs in 2021 are as follows:
(1) Electro-mechanical and labor-intensive products were the main exported products.
In 2021, China exported RMB451.65 billion of electro-mechanical products to CEECs, an increase of 25.7%, accounting for 70.3% of the gross export value (similarly hereinafter) from China to CEECs over the same period. Of these, automatic data processing equipment and parts thereof take up RMB53.41 billion, which increased by 9.6%; electrical equipment takes up RMB47.15 billion, which increased by 43.8%. Over the same period, the exports of labor-intensive products reached RMB107.99 billion, an increase of 16.7%, accounting for 16.8% of the gross export value from China to CEECs. Of these, garments and clothing accessories take up RMB33.99 billion, up 30.7%; textile yarns, fabrics and articles thereof reached RMB20.68 billion, down 20.8%. In addition, the export of agricultural totaled RMB5.3 billion, which increased by 1.2%; foodstuffs exports amounted to RMB3.58 billion, a decrease of 5.5%.
(2) Electro-mechanical products, copper ,wood and wooden products were the main imported products.
In 2021, China imported RMB156.67 billion of electro-mechanical products from CEECs, an increase of 15.6%, accounting for 70.9% of the gross import value (the same below) from CEECs to China over the same period. Of these, passenger cars amounted to RMB41.35 billion, which increased by 6.9%; Auto parts and accessories reached RMB34.05 billion, which increased by 32.6%. Over the same period, the import of unwrought copper and copper products amounted to RMB13 billion, up 12.5%; the import of wood and articles thereof reached RMB7.38 billion, an increase of 12.1%. In addition, the import of agricultural products totaled RMB5.06 billion, which increased by 31.3%; food imports amounted to RMB3.85 billion, an increase of 16.1%.
(3) Poland, Czech and Hungary were the top three trading partners.
In 2021, China's imports from and exports to Poland, Czech and Hungary amounted to RMB272.28 billion, RMB136.74 billion and RMB101.59 billion respectively, an increase of 26.7%, 4.8%, and 25.4% respectively, accounting for 31.5%, 15.8% and 11.8% of China's gross import-export value from and to CEECs over the same period, respectively.
