According to customs statistics, the total bilateral trade volume between China and Central and Eastern European countries (hereinafter referred to as CEECs) in the first three quarters of 2021 stood at RMB629.41 billion, up by 27.2% year-on-year (similarly hereinafter). Of these, exports to CEECs rose by 25.3% to RMB 461.05 billion and imports grew by 32.5% to RMB168.36 billion.
The main features are as follows:
1. Electro-mechanical and labor-intensive products dominated the exports.
In the first three quarters of 2021, the electro-mechanical products exported to CEECs grew by 28% to RMB324.48 billion, making up 70.4% of the total exports to CEECs in the same period (similarly hereinafter). Of these, automatic data processing machines and parts thereof increased by 12.2% to RMB38.18 billion; electrical equipment were up by 54% to RMB34.01 billion. The exports of labor-intensive products rose by 11.3% to RMB77.55 billion, accounting for 16.8% of the total exports. Of these, garments and clothing accessories were up by 24.2% to RMB24.92 billion; textile yarns, fabrics and articles thereof were down by 29.2% to RMB14.73 billion. In addition, agricultural products exports decreased by 3.2% to RMB3.76 billion; exports of foods declined by 8.6% to RMB2.56 billion.
2. Electro-mechanical products, copper, wood and wooden products dominated the imports.
In the first three quarters of 2021, electro-mechanical products imported from CEECs rose by 33.9% to RMB120.6 billion, making up 71.6% of the total imports from CEECs in the same period (similarly hereinafter). Of these, passenger cars were up by 46.7% to RMB31.53 million; parts and accessories of vehicle grew by 49.5% to RMB 26.76 billion. The imports of unwrought copper and copper products increased by 11% to RMB9.93 billion; that of wood and articles thereof were up by 15.9% to RMB5.47 billion. In addition, agricultural products imports climbed by 35.5% to RMB3.62 billion; imported foods ascended by 14.7% to RMB2.66 billion.
3. Poland, Czech and Hungary were the top three trading partners.
In the first three quarters of 2021, the imports and exports with Poland, Czech and Hungary increased by 29.8%, 8.7% and 27.6% respectively to RMB198.06 billion, RMB99.55 billion and RMB76.17 billion, accounting for 31.5%, 15.8% and 12.1% respectively of the total China-CEEC trade volume.
