According to Customs statistics, the total bilateral trade volume between China and Central and Eastern European countries (hereinafter referred to as CEECs) in April 2021 stood at RMB68.78 billion, an increase of 28.6% over the same period of the previous year (the same below). Specifically, China's exports totaled RMB48.88 billion, an increase of 16.1%; imports hit RMB19.9 billion, an increase of 74.7%.
From January to April 2021, the total bilateral trade volume between China and CEECs went up to RMB264.29 billion, an increase of 37.5%. Specifically, China's exports amounted to RMB191.38 billion, up by 35.1%; imports amounted to RMB72.91 billion, up by 44%.
The details are as follows:
1. Electro-mechanical products and labor-intensive products were the main exports.
In April 2021, China exported RMB34.69 billion of electro-mechanical products to CEECs, an increase of 25.1%, accounting for 71% of the total volume of China’s exports to CEECs (the same below) that month. Specifically, automatic data processing machines and parts thereof totaled RMB3.71 billion, down by 15.2%; electrical equipments amounted to RMB3.56 billion, up by 39%. In the same period, the export of labor-intensive products was RMB7.19 billion, down by 18.7%, accounting for 14.7%. Specifically, textile yarns, fabrics and articles thereof were RMB1.66 billion, falling by 66.1%; garments and clothing accessories were RMB1.51 billion, up by 1.5%. The export of medicinal materials and pharmaceutical products stood at RMB1.01 billion, rising by 173.4%, accounting for 2.1%. In addition, the export of agricultural products was RMB400 million, down by 33.1%; the export of food was RMB290 million, dropping by 35.4%.
2. Electro-mechanical products, copper and wood were the main imports.
In April 2021, China imported RMB14.24 billion of mechanical and electrical products from CEECs, a growth of 76.7%, accounting for 71.6% of the total volume of China's imports from CEECs that month (the same below). Specifically, passenger cars constituted RMB4.26 billion, rocketing by 432.1%; auto parts and accessories were RMB3.01 billion, a climb of 90.9%. In the same period, the import of unwrought copper and copper products hit RMB1.31 billion, soaring by 116.4%, accounting for 6.6%; the import of wood and articles thereof was RMB560 million, an increase of 21.2%, accounting for 2.8%. In addition, imported agricultural products amounted to RMB420 million, an increase of 95.7%, accounting for 2.1%; imported food constituted RMB330 million, an increase of 88.6%, accounting for 1.7%.
3. Poland, Czech and Hungary were the top three trading partners.
In April 2021, China’s imports and exports to Poland, Czech and Hungary were RMB21.65 billion, RMB10.58 billion and RMB7.92 billion, an increase of 37.2%, a decrease of 0.8%, and a growth of 15.4%, respectively, accounting for 31.5%, 15.4%, 11.5% respectively of the total import and export to CEECs in April.
