Customs statistics show that the total value of agricultural product trade between China and Central and Eastern European countries (hereinafter referred to as CEE) was RMB 1.09 billion in April 2024, a decrease of 23.5% over the same period last year (the same below). Among them, the value of agricultural products exported to CEE reached RMB 750 million, with a decrease of 0.3%; the value of agricultural products imported from CEE reached RMB 340 million, with a decrease of 49.5%.
The main features of agricultural product trade between China and CEE in April 2024 are as follows:
(I) E-cigarette cartridges (nicotine-containing), edible aquatic products and formulated animal feed were the main exported products.
In April 2024, China exported RMB 750 million of agricultural products to CEE, with a decrease of 0.3%, accounting for 1.2% of the gross value of exports to CEE from China in the same month. Among them, the nicotine-containing products used to make e-cigarette cartridges amounted to RMB 130 million, with a decrease of 49.5%, edible aquatic products RMB 64.63 million, with an increase of 18.8%, and formulated animal feed RMB 59.523 million, with an increase of 80.8%.
(II) Stuffing feathers, dairy products, and sunflower seeds were the main imported products.
In April 2024, China imported RMB 340 million of agricultural products from CEE, with a decrease of 49.5%, accounting for 1.7% of the gross value of imports from CEE to China in the same month. Among them, the value of stuffing feathers reached RMB 57.444 million, with an increase of 164.5%; the value of dairy products reached RMB 48.274 million, with a decrease of 48.9%; the value of sunflower seeds reached RMB 37.75 million, with a decrease of 22.9%.
(III) Poland, the Czech Republic and Romania were the top three agricultural product trade partners.
In April 2024, China's imports and exports of agricultural products from and to Poland, the Czech Republic and Romania amounted to RMB 430 million, RMB 130 million, and RMB 120 million respectively, with an increase of 5.9%, 65.2% and 84.2% respectively, accounting for 39.6%, 11.9% and 11.3% respectively of China's gross import-export value of agricultural products from and to CEE in the same month.
