6.

Description of content: This standard applies to food additive Steviol glycosides using leaves of Stevia Rebaudiana Bertoni as raw materias to extract and refine. The known glycosides includes Stevioside, Rebaudioside A, Rebaudioside B, Rebaudioside C, Rebaudioside D, Rebaudioside E, Rebaudioside F, Rebaudioside M, Rebaudioside N, Rebaudioside O, Dulcoside A, Rubusoside and Steviolbioside. It specifies the technical requirements and testing methods for the food additive Steviol glycosides.

7.

Objective and rationale: [Xfood safety, [ ] animal health, [ ] plant protection, [ ] protect humans from animal/plant pest or disease, [ ] protect territory from other damage from pests.

8.

Is there a relevant international standard? If so, identify the standard:

[X]       Codex Alimentarius Commission (e.g. title or serial number of Codex standard or related text): The specification of "STEVIOL GLYCOSIDES FROM STEVIA REBAUDIANA BERTONI" prepared at the 84th JECFA (2017)

[ ]        World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) (e.g. Terrestrial or Aquatic Animal Health Code, chapter number):

[ ]        International Plant Protection Convention (e.g. ISPM number):

[ ]        None

Does this proposed regulation conform to the relevant international standard?

[ ] Yes  [X] No

If no, describe, whenever possible, how and why it deviates from the international standard:

1. Adding "crystals or granules" in the States of Sensory Requirements.

2. The content is required to not less than 90% in dry basis, and the test method (HPLC) is optimized.

3. Microbial index limit is not specified.

Reason: The standard is based on the revision of "National food safety standard: Food additive Steviol glycosides" (GB 8270-2014), and combined with the actual quality status of Chinese products.
