Customs statistics show that the total value of agricultural product trade between China and Central and Eastern European countries (hereinafter referred to as CEE) was RMB 1.13 billion in August 2024, a decrease of 26% over the same period last year (the same below). Among them, the value of agricultural products exported to CEE reached RMB 810 million, with a decrease of 0.6%; the value of agricultural products imported from CEE reached RMB 320 million, with a decrease of 55%.
The main features of agricultural product trade between China and CEE in August 2024 are as follows:
(I) E-cigarette cartridges (nicotine-containing), edible aquatic products and formulated animal feed were the main exported products.
In August 2024, China exported RMB 810 million of agricultural products to CEE, with a decrease of 0.6%, accounting for 1.2% of the gross value of exports to CEE from China in the same month. Among them, the nicotine-containing products used to make e-cigarette cartridges amounted to RMB 250 million, with an increase of 4%, edible aquatic products RMB 83.34 million, with an increase of 31.5%, and formulated animal feed RMB 52.562 million, with an decrease of 7.1%.
(II) The main imports were feathers and down, dairy products, edible vegetable oil, etc.
In August 2024, China imported RMB 320 million of agricultural products from CEE, with a decrease of 55%, accounting for 1.4% of the gross value of imports from CEE to China in the same month. Among them, the value of feather and down stuffing was RMB 85.598 million, with an increase of 14.7 times; that of dairy products was RMB 58.055 million, with a decrease of 2.5%; that of edible vegetable oil was RMB 29.778 million, with an increase of 210.2%.
(III) Poland, the Czech Republic and Greece were the top three agricultural product trade partners.
In August 2024, China's imports and exports of agricultural products from and to Poland, the Czech Republic and Greece amounted to RMB 470 million, RMB 130 million, and RMB 110 million respectively, with an increase of 13.1%, 50.4% and 52% respectively, accounting for 41.2%, 11.2% and 9.5% respectively of China's gross import-export value of agricultural products from and to CEE in the same month.
