Customs statistics show that the total value of bilateral trade between China and Central and Eastern European countries (hereinafter referred to as CEE) was RMB 76.51 billion in November 2023, with a year-on-year decrease (the same below) of 4.4%. Among them, the value of exports to CEE reached RMB 57.91 billion, with a decrease of 7.8%; the value of imports from CEE reached RMB 18.6 billion, with an increase of 8%.
In the first eleven months of 2023, the total value of bilateral trade between China and CEE was RMB 857.1 billion, with an increase of 1.9%. Among them, those exported to CEE reached RMB 664.89 billion, with an increase of 2%; those imported from CEE reached RMB 192.21 billion, with an increase of 1.8%.
The main features of bilateral trade between China and CEE in November 2023 are as follows:
(I) Mechanical & electrical products and labor-intensive products were the main exported products.
In November 2023, China exported RMB 39.64 billion of mechanical and electrical products to CEE, with a decrease of 9.2%, accounting for 68.4% of the gross value of exports to CEE from China (the same below) in the same month. Among them, the value of mobile phones reached RMB 4.7 billion, with an increase of 9.1%; the value of automatic data processing equipment and its parts and components reached RMB 4.52 billion, with a decrease of 10%. Over the same period, the export of labor-intensive products reached RMB 9.81 billion, with an increase of 2.9%, accounting for 16.9% of the gross export value from China to CEE. Among them, the value of garments and accessories reached RMB 2.64 billion, with a decrease of 6.4%; the value of textile yarn, fabrics and their products reached RMB 1.8 billion, with a decrease of 2.2%. In addition, the export of agricultural products was RMB 910 million, with a decrease of 6.1%, accounting for 1.6%; the export of steel was RMB 610 million, with an increase of 9.4%, accounting for 1.1%; the export of basic organic chemicals was RMB 530 million, with a decrease of 25.2%; and the export of food was RMB 440 million, with a decrease of 11.7%.
(II) Mechanical and electrical products, copper materials and agricultural products were the main imported products.
In November 2023, China imported RMB 13.91 billion of mechanical & electrical products from CEE, with an increase of 14.3%, accounting for 74.8% of the gross value of imports from CEE to China in the same month (the same below). Among them, the value of passenger cars reached RMB 4.68 billion, with an increase of 45.8%; the value of auto parts reached RMB 2.41 billion, with an increase of 5.5%. Over the same period, the import of unwrought copper and copper materials amounted to RMB 980 million, with an increase of 74%, accounting for 5.3%; and the import of agricultural products amounted to RMB 460 million, with a decrease of 8.7%, accounting for 2.5%. In addition, the import of metal ores and ore sands was RMB 410 million, with a decrease of 61.3%, accounting for 2.2%; the import of foods was RMB 410 million, with an increase of 95.2%, accounting for 2.2%.
(III) Poland, the Czech Republic, and Hungary were the top three trading partners.
In November 2023, China's imports from and exports to Poland, the Czech Republic, and Hungary amounted to RMB 23.1 billion, RMB 13.74 billion, and RMB 9.02 billion respectively, with a decrease of 2.3%, 11%, and 7.2% respectively, accounting for 30.2%, 18% and 11.8% respectively of China's gross import-export value from and to CEE in the same month.
