According to Customs statistics, the agricultural trade volume between China and Central and Eastern European countries (hereinafter referred to as CEECs) in August, 2021 stood at RMB860 million, up 25.1% year-on-year (similarly hereinafter). Exports rose by 15.2% to RMB460 million and imports grew by 38.5% to RMB400 million.
The main features are as follows:
1. Edible aquatic products, chemically modified animal and vegetable fats and oils, prepared animal feeds dominated exports.
In August, 2021, China's agricultural exports to CEECs grew by 15.2% to RMB460 million, making up 0.8% of total exports from China to CEECs that month. Of these, the exports of edible aquatic products decreased by 14.3% to RMB64.428 million; chemically modified animal and vegetable fats and oils were up by 3651.7% to RMB38.567 million; and prepared animal feeds grew by 31.9% to RMB32.049 million.
2. Sunflower oil cakes, dairy products, alcohol and beverages dominated the imports.
In August, 2021, the agricultural imports from CEECs to China increased by 38.5% to RMB400 million, accounting for 2.3% of the total imports from CEECs to China that month. Of these, the imports of sunflower oil cakes registered RMB140 million, compared with zero over the same period last year; dairy products were up by 32.9% to RMB130 million yuan; alcohol and beverages were down by 40.3% to RMB26.798 million.
3. Poland, Bulgaria and Romania became China's top three agricultural partners.
In August, 2021, China's agricultural exports and imports with Poland, Bulgaria and Romania increased by 4.5%, 173.1%, and 60.2% respectively to RMB320 million, RMB170 million, and RMB93.483 million, accounting for 37.5%, 19.2%, and 10.9% respectively of China's total agricultural trade volume with CEECs that month.
