According to Customs statistics, the total value of bilateral trade between China and Central and Eastern European countries (hereinafter referred to as CEECs) was RMB921.05 billion in 2022, with a year-on-year increase (similarly hereinafter) of 9%,including the value of exports to CEECs reached RMB714.29 billion with an increase of 13.8% and the value of imports from CEECs reached RMB206.76 billion with a decrease of 4.9%.
The main features of bilateral trade between China and CEECs in 2022 are as follows:
1. Mechanical and electrical products and labor-intensive products dominated the exports.
In 2022, China exported RMB488.78 billion of mechanical & electrical products to CEECs, with an increase of 10.5%, accounting for 68.4% of the gross export value (the same below) from China to CEECs over the same period. Among them, the value of electrical equipments reached RMB67.02 billion, with an increase of 43.9%; the value of automatic data processing machines and parts thereof reached RMB54.2 billion, with an increase of 2.2%. Over the same period, the export of labor-intensive products reached RMB119.04 billion, with an increase of 12.2%, accounting for 16.7% of the gross export value from China to CEECs. Among them, the value of garments and clothing accessories reached RMB39.09 billion, with an increase of 15.9%; the value of textile yarn, fabrics and articles thereof reached RMB21.6 billion, with an increase of 7.3%. In addition, the value of exported agricultural products reached RMB8.43 billion, with an increase of 69% and accounting for 1.2%, and the value of exported foods reached RMB3.84 billion, with an increase of 16.3%.
2. Mechanical and electrical products, metal mines and ores, copper products were the main imported products.
In 2022, China imported RMB149.87 billion of mechanical & electrical products from CEECs, with a decrease of 3.5%, accounting for 72.5% of the gross import value (the same below) from CEECs to China over the same period. Among them, the value of passenger cars reached RMB43.49 billion, with an increase of 5.2%; the value of auto parts and accessories reached RMB28.62 billion, with a decrease of 15.5%. Over the same period, the value of imported metal mines and ores reached RMB9.9 billion, with an increase of 80.1% and accounting for 4.8%; the value of unwrought copper and copper products reached RMB7.38 billion, with a decrease of 42.9% and accounting for 3.6%; the value of wood and its products reached RMB5.76 billion, with a decrease of 11.6% and accounting for 2.8%. In addition, the value of imported agricultural products reached RMB4.57 billion, with a decrease of 5.9% and accounting for 2.2%; the value of imported foods reached RMB2.72 billion, a decrease of 25.7%.
3. Poland, Czech and Hungary were the top three trading partners.
In 2022, China's imports from and exports to Poland, Czech and Hungary were RMB287.86 billion, RMB157.92 billion and RMB103.49 billion respectively, with an increase of 5.9%, 15.5%, and 1.9% respectively, accounting for 31.3%, 17.1% and 11.2% of China's gross import-export value from and to CEECs over the same period.
