According to Customs statistics, the agricultural trade volume between China and Central and Eastern European countries (hereinafter referred to as CEECs) in October, 2021 registered RMB750 million, down 1.5% year-on-year (similarly hereinafter). Exports rose by 5.7% to RMB470 million and imports declined by 11.7% to RMB280 million.
The main features are as follows:
1. Edible aquatic products, chemically modified animal and vegetable fats and oils, dried and fresh fruits and nuts dominated exports.
In October 2021, China's agricultural exports to CEE countries grew by 5.7% to RMB 470 million, making up 0.8% of total exports from China to CEECs that month. Of these, the exports of edible aquatic products increased by 3.6% to RMB74.33 million; chemically modified animal and vegetable fats and oils shot up by 489% to RMB32.259 million; and fresh and dried fruits and nuts decreased by 25.1% to RMB31.881 million.
2. Dairy products, sunflower seeds, alcohol and beverage dominated the imports.
In October 2021, the agricultural imports from CEECs to China increased by 11.7% to RMB280 million, accounting for 1.8% of the total imports from CEECs to China that month. Of these, the imports of dairy products were up by 7% RMB110 million; sunflower seeds grew by 741.1% to RMB33.183 million; liquors and beverages were down by 54.7% to RMB22.077 million.
3. Poland, Greece and Romania became China's top three agricultural partners.
In October 2021, China's agricultural exports and imports with Poland, Greece and Romania increased by 1.7%, 97.1%, and 33.9% respectively to RMB330 million, RMB78.256 million, and RMB76.494 million, accounting for 44.1%, 10.4%, and 10.2% respectively of China's total agricultural trade volume with CEECs that month.
