According to Customs statistics, in July 2021, the food trade between China and Central and Eastern European countries (hereinafter referred to as CEECs) increased by 31.4% to RMB710 million over the same period last year (the same below). Among them, China's exports of food to CEECs went up by 49.4% to RMB380 million; the imports from CEECs grew by 15.3% to RMB330 million.
The main features are as follows:
1. China's main exports were edible aquatic products, rice and rice, alcohol and beverages.
In July 2021, China's food exports to CEECs increased by 49.4% to RMB380 million, accounting for 0.7% of the total export value in that month. Among them, edible aquatic products grew by 35.2% to RMB84.208 million; rice in husk and rice totaled RMB58.601 million while there were no exports of that in the same period last year; alcohol and beverages increased by 34.3% to RMB32.782 million.
2. The main imports were dairy products, rapeseed or mustard oil, alcohol and beverages.
In July 2021, China imported RMB330 million of food from CEE countries, an increase of 15.3%, accounting for 1.8% of the total import value from CEE countries in that month. Among them, dairy products grew by 17.3% to 140 million; rapeseed or mustard oil and its fractions soared by 74.6 times to RMB110 million; liquors and beverages came down by 43.7% to RMB28.154 million.
3. Poland, Czech and Bulgaria were the top three food trade partners.
In July 2021, China's food trade with Poland, Czech and Bulgaria, increased by 5.5%, 146.4%, 91.3% to 290 million yuan, RMB120 million, RMB82.684 million respectively, accounting for 40.3%, 16.8%, 11.6% of the total value of the food trade with CEECs in that month.
