According to Customs statistics, in July 2021, the bilateral trade between China and Central and Eastern European countries (hereinafter referred to as CEECs) increased by 10.9% to RMB70.21 billion over the same period last year (the same below). Among them, Chinese exports to CEECs increased by 9.4% to RMB51.96 billion; imports from CEECs increased by 15.5% to RMB18.25 billion.
From January to July 2021, China's bilateral trade with CEECs increased by 31.9% to RMB477.94 billion. Among them, China's exports to CEECs grew by 27.6% to RMB347.37 billion; China's imports from CEECs grew by 44.9% to RMB130.57 billion.
The main features are as follows:
1. Electro-mechanical and labor-intensive product made the major exports.
In July 2021, China exported RMB34.78 billion of electro-mechanical products to CEECs, an increase of 8.4%, accounting for 66.9% of the total Chinese exports to CEECs that month (the same below). Among them, automatic data processing machines and parts thereof came down by 7.8% to RMB4.09 billion; electrical equipment went up by 41.5% to RMB3.71 billion. During the same period, Chinese exports of labor-intensive products to CEECs grew by 2.7% to RMB10.56 billion, accounting for 20.3%. Among them, garments and clothing accessories totaled RMB4.26 billion, up 4.5%; textile yarns, fabrics and articles thereof RMB1.74 billion, down 13.1%. Chinese exports of medical materials and pharmaceutical products hiked by 83.6% to RMB 590 million, accounting for 1.1%. In addition, the exports of agricultural products increased by 44.9% to RMB560 million, accounting for 1.1%; exports of food went up by 49.4% to RMB380 million.
2. Electro-mechanical products, copper and agricultural products made the major imports to China.
In July 2021, China imported RMB12.62 billion of mechanical and electrical products from CEECs, an increase of 16.3%, accounting for 69.1% of the total value of Chinese imports from CEECs (the same below). Among them, parts and accessories of vehicle totaled RMB3.01 billion, which increased by 28.1%; passenger cars increased by 34.8% to RMB2.8 billion. During the same period, imports of unwrought copper and copper products decreased by 42.7% to RMB920 million, accounting for 5.1%; imports of wood and articles thereof totaled RMB780 million, up 14%, accounting for 4.3%. In addition, imports of agricultural products increased by 14.3% to RMB360 million, accounting for 2%; imports of food grew by 15.3% to RMB330 million.
3. Poland, Czech and Hungary were the top three trading partners.
In July 2021, China's trade with Poland, Czech and Hungary totaled RMB23.37 billion, RMB10.78 billion and RMB7.82 billion, up 15.6%, down 6.2%, up 3.2% respectively, accounting for 33.3%, 15.4% and 11.1% of the total import and export value that month.
