According to Customs statistics, in the first quarter of 2021, the bilateral trade volume between China and Central and Eastern Europe countries (hereinafter referred to as CEECs) reached RMB195.65 billion, an increase of 41% over the same period (similarly hereinafter). China's exports grew by 43.3% to RMB142.63 billion and imports from CEE countries increased by 35.1% to RMB53.02 billion.
The main features are as follows:
1. Main exports included electro-mechanical products and labor-intensive products.
In the first quarter of 2021, China's exports of electro-mechanical products rose by 51.6% to RMB104.05 billion, accounting for 73% of China’s total export volume to CEECs (similarly hereinafter) over the same period. Specifically, automatic data processing machines and parts thereof stood at RMB14.29 billion, up 87%; and electrical equipments marked RMB11.21 billion, up 76.3%. Meanwhile, exports of labor-intensive products grew by 23% to RMB21.04 billion, accounting for 14.8%. Specifically, garments and clothing accessories increased by 34.2% to RMB5.57 billion; textile yarns, fabrics and articles thereof dropped by 2.4% to RMB4.47 billion. In addition, exports of agricultural products decreased by 16.2% to RMB1.08 billion; exports of food fell by 22% to RMB770 million.
2. Main imports included electro-mechanical products, copper and wood.
In the first quarter of 2021, China's imports of electro-mechanical products rose by 38.5% to RMB37.71 billion, accounting for 71.1% of China’s total import volume from CEECs (similarly hereinafter) over the same period. Specifically, passenger cars grew by 26.3% to RMB9.13 billion; auto parts and accessories increased by 67.8% to RMB8.75 billion. Meanwhile, imports of unwrought copper and copper products grew by 9.3% to RMB3.4 billion; imports of wood and articles thereof increased by 8.2% to RMB1.49 billion. In addition, imports of agricultural products stood at RMB1.1 billion, down by 12.2%; imports of food registered RMB890 million, down by 19.8%.
3. Poland, Czech and Hungary are the top three trading partners.
In the first quarter of 2021, China’s trade volume with Poland, Czech and Hungary reached RMB59.19 billion, RMB33.64 billion and RMB24.2 billion, up by 48.4%, 33.6% and 53.6%, respectively, accounting for 30.3%, 17.2% and 12.4% of total trade volume between China and CEECs.
