Briefing on Foods Trade between China and CEE Countries in November 2022

According to customs statistics, the total value of food trade between China and Central and Eastern European countries (hereinafter referred to as CEECs) was RMB710 million in November 2022, an increase of 17.3% over the same period last year (the same below). Among them, food exported to CEECs accounted for RMB500 million, an increase of 68.7%; Food imported from CEECs reached RMB210 million, a decrease of 32.3%.


The main features of food trade between China and CEECs in November 2022 are as follows:


1. Rice, edible aquatic products, liquors and beverages were the main exported products.


In November 2022, China exported RMB500 million of foods to CEECs, an increase of 68.7%, accounting for 0.8% of the gross value of exports to CEECs from China in the same month. The value of export of  rice reached RMB73.43 million, without export in the same period last year. The value of exports of edible aquatic products and of liquors and beverages reached RMB71.304 million and RMB41.476 million, up 29.3% and 13.1 times, respectively.

2. Dairy products, liquor and beverages, and sunflower seeds were the main imported products.

In November 2022, China imported RMB210 million of foods from CEECs, down 32.3%, accounting for 1.2% of the gross import value from CEECs to China in the same month. The value of imports of dairy products, alcohol and beverages, and sunflower seeds  reached RMB100 million, RMB24.979 million, and RMB15.846 million, up 18.7% and down 20% and down 31.6%, respectively.

3. Poland, Bulgaria, and Greece were the top three food trading partners.

In November 2022, China's food imports from and exports to Poland, Bulgaria, and Greece amounted to RMB270 million, RMB140 million, and RMB85.512 million, up 7.6%, 221%, and 61.3%, respectively, accounting for 37.4%, 19.5%, and 12.1% of the gross value of foods imported from and exported to CEECs in the same month.
