XI'AN, January 17 (Chinanews.com/Arina) - On January 17, Xi'an witnessed the departure of China's first full-scheduled green cross-border e-commerce train from the International Port Station, destined for Duisburg, Germany. In a strategic partnership with Deutsche Bahn Cargo, Xi'an Chanba International Port has integrated this eco-friendly service with the China-Europe (Xi'an) scheduled route, pioneering a fresh logistics approach to globalizing 'Made in China' products.

On the same day, 55 containers loaded with household and automotive supplies began their journey on the China-Europe (Xi'an) train from Xi'an International Port Station. Traveling through Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, and Poland, they reached Duisburg, Germany. Subsequently, the cargo was redistributed to various destinations including the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Belgium, and the Netherlands, completing a journey of roughly 10,000km in about 10 days.

"This marks the first instance of a China-Europe train utilizing a comprehensive 'full-schedule, low-carbon green, and cross-border e-commerce' framework for transporting goods, significantly reducing costs to approximately one-fifth of those associated with air freight. The service combines high efficiency with a sustainable model, utilizing green energy throughout and achieving carbon neutrality," explained Shao Bo'er, General Manager of Multimodal Transport Company at Xi'an International Inland Port. Plans for this year include expanding to new stations like Budapest and trialing a full-scheduled route across the Caspian Sea. Additionally, new products like 'green + cold chain + cross-border e-commerce' are planned to enhance the high-quality development of the China-Europe (Xi'an) route.

In 2024, the China-Europe (Xi'an) route operated 4,985 natural trains, marking a 25.1% increase year-over-year, and continued to lead nationally in core indicators. The new Xi'an-Poti route was launched, achieving near-daily service across the Caspian Sea, expanding international mainlines to 18, covering the whole Eurasian territory. It was the first in China to achieve interconnectivity with Kazakhstan Railways in data sharing, leading in customs and railway data linkage, with customs declarations processed in 5 minutes, improving operational efficiency by over one-third. The establishment of a cross-border e-commerce pilot zone highlighted the 'train+' aggregation effect, boosting import and export trade volume by more than 20% year-over-year; notably, the construction of the Xi'an Port in Kazakhstan accelerated the development of international logistics hubs outside China, achieving a 'hub-to-hub' major upgrade and establishing a 'golden passage' for the nation's westward opening.

Yang Bing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee at Xi'an Chanba International Port, expressed that from this new starting point, the port is poised to capitalize on emerging opportunities. It is dedicated to spearheading the construction of a modern international logistics system, vigorously working to slash costs, boost efficiency, and enhance service quality. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to advance the 'train+' integration model, which will significantly support regional economic growth, facilitate China's expansion westward, and assist in the collaborative construction of the 'Belt and Road' initiative. Furthermore, these initiatives are aimed at bolstering Xi'an and Shaanxi's position as a hub of inland reform and open economic development.
