BUCHAREST, June 19 by Xinhua News Agency (Reporter Zhang Gaiping) -- The Chinese Embassy in Romania hosted a trade-themed salon titled 'Promoting Win-Win Cooperation and Deepening the Comprehensive Friendly Partnership Between China and Romania' in Bucharest on June 18, as reported by journalist Zhang Gaiping. Over 80 participants, including representatives from Romanian trade authorities, business associations, think tanks, and Chinese-funded enterprises, attended the meeting to explore new opportunities for enhancing bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
Song Xianmao, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Romania, put forward proposals to strengthen cooperative mechanisms, enhance trade facilitation, expand emerging sectors like new energy and digital economy, and improve the business climate. He stressed the importance of not only enlarging the bilateral trade 'pie' but also facilitating greater access to the Chinese market for Romania's competitive products such as agricultural goods and automotive components.
Marcel Angel, Director General of Romania's Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, stated that shared traditional values form the bedrock for sustainable bilateral relations, while complementary differences serve as the driving force behind the vitality of economic and trade ties between the two nations.
Dan Valdiye, President of the Romanian Automobile Manufacturers and Importers Association, commended the contributions of Chinese automakers to Romania's automotive sector. He noted the increasing market influence of Chinese brands in Romania, demonstrating that a healthy market thrives when consumer choice is respected and free from geopolitical biases.
Pandele Nicola, Chairman of the Romanian Sustainable Development Forum, expressed his commitment to strengthening academic collaboration between the two nations. He emphasized learning from China's expertise in large-scale AI applications to foster mutually beneficial development.
Participants unanimously recognized the vast cooperation potential between China and Romania under the Belt and Road Initiative and China-CEE frameworks, particularly in renewable energy, artificial intelligence, smart connected vehicles, and vocational education. The event served as a crucial platform for businesses from both sides to align their needs and pioneer innovative win-win cooperation models.
