Art transcends borders, serving as a universal language and a bridge for cultural exchange and mutual learning. In the early spring, that vision came to life as a collection of paintings traveled across oceans from Hungary to Kunming, Yunnan. With efficient support from Kunming Post Office Customs, a subsidiary of Kunming Customs, the artworks cleared Customs and arrived in the city, ready to bring a touch of Hungarian elegance to the local cultural scene through brush and color.

Seventy-four works from a solo exhibition by Hungarian contemporary artist Márta Kucsora, will run at the Yunnan Provincial Museum until early May. “Paintings are extremely sensitive to light, dust, and fluctuations in temperature and humidity. They also demand stringent conditions for transportation, storage, and handling. Given the large number of pieces, their high artistic value, and the long distance they traveled, ensuring an on-schedule opening was a real challenge,” said Pan Rui from the museum’s Exhibition Department.
To meet this challenge, Kunming Post Office Customs moved quickly to gather key information on the types, quantity, value, and clearance needs of the exhibits, so as to craft a tailored plan. They efficiently handled the advance registration and declaration procedures and introduced facilitative measures, such as “on-site supervision with a waiver for tax security deposits”. This allowed the artworks to reach the museum's collection storage safely and on schedule, creating a seamless link from the port to the exhibition hall and paving the way for a successful opening.
"Throughout the exhibition, our Customs officers remain on-site, combining camera monitoring with on-site patrols to supervise the displays. This ensures the paintings are kept under consistent temperature, in sealed and dry conditions that both protect the artworks and enhance the visitor experience," said Yang Linrui, Head of the 4th Supervision Section at Kunming Post Office Customs.
Since China and Hungary signed an intergovernmental Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Belt and Road cooperation in 2015, cooperation between the two countries has continued to deepen in areas such as trade, economy, culture, and people-to-people exchange. Building on that momentum, Kunming Post Office Customs is committed to providing more efficient, precise, and convenient supervision and service measures. By creating a "bridge" through Customs clearance, the authority aims to connect cultures and facilitate international exchange and cooperation. This will inject fresh impetus into China's high-level opening-up and foster mutual learning among civilizations.
