The global passenger vehicle industry is accelerating its transition toward electrification and smart technologies. Building on a solid foundation, Fujian Province has seen its passenger vehicle exports achieve substantial growth, providing strong impetus for its foreign trade expansion. According to statistics released by Fuzhou Customs, the province's passenger vehicle exports reached 11.41 billion yuan in 2025, marking a significant year-on-year increase of 68.1 percent.
Fujian's exports gained momentum across both new and established markets. Shipments to the United Arab Emirates surged 96.7 percent to 4.64 billion yuan, while those to Saudi Arabia skyrocketed 14.4-fold to 670 million yuan. Together, these two markets accounted for 46.5 percent of the province's total passenger vehicle export value. Its exports to the European Union also expanded vigorously, climbing 87.1 percent to 1 billion yuan, which made up 8.7 percent of the total.
The bulk of Fujian’s passenger vehicle exports were conducted under general trade terms, a standard mode of direct overseas sales. This channel accounted for 9.51 billion yuan in 2025, up 40.3 percent year-on-year, and represented a dominant 83.3 percent share of the province's total passenger vehicle exports for the year. Driving this performance were private enterprises, which led the charge with exports valued at 10.71 billion yuan in 2025, a staggering year-on-year surge of 127 percent, comprising 93.9 percent of the total.
To accelerate the global expansion of Fujian-made passenger vehicles, Fuzhou Customs has leveraged the "Smart Customs for Stronger Nation" initiative as a key driver. This involves creating an efficient foreign trade service ecosystem tailored to the passenger vehicle industry, fully leveraging benefits from free trade agreements and AEO certification, and streamlining export supervision as well as enhancing related services. Additional facilitation measures, such as "advance declaration" and "direct loading upon arrival", have been implemented to expedite Customs clearance. These combined efforts are paving the way for Fujian-made passenger vehicles to reach global markets. (By Chen Xi)
