Briefing on Trade of Agricultural Products between China and CEECs in April 2021

According to Customs statistics, the total volume of agricultural products trade between China and Central and Eastern European countries (hereinafter referred to as CEECs) in April 2021 was RMB820 million, an increase of 0.5% over the same period of the previous year (the same below). Specifically, China's export of agricultural products to CEECs stood at RMB400 million, dropping by 33.1%; the import of agricultural products from CEECs hit RMB420 million, a rise of 95.7%.

 

The details are as follows:

 

1. The main exports were edible aquatic products, chemically modified animal and vegetable oils, vegetables, etc.

 

In April 2021, China’s agricultural products exports to CEECs amounted to RMB400 million, down by 33.1%, accounting for 0.8% of the total volume of China’s total exports to CEECs that month. Specifically, edible aquatic products constituted RMB71.364 million, declining by 33.5%; chemically modified animal and vegetable oils were RMB36.323 million, up by 287.4%; vegetables and edible fungi were RMB24.077 million, a decrease of 45.2%.

 

2. The main imports were dairy products, rapeseed oil, sunflower seed oil residue cakes, etc.

 

In April 2021, China imported RMB420 million of agricultural products from CEE countries, upward by 95.7%, accounting for 2.1% of the total volume of China’s imports from CEE countries that month. Specifically, dairy products totaled RMB130 million, an increase of 49.4%; rapeseed or mustard oil were RMB47.67 million, climbing by 62.3 times; sunflower seed oil residue cakes constituted RMB44.567 million, no import in the same period last year.

 

3. Poland, Czech and Bulgaria were the top three agricultural trading partners of China.

 

In April 2021, China’s imports and exports of agricultural products between Poland, Czech and Bulgaria were RMB340 million, RMB110 million, and RMB100 million respectively, rising by 20.6%, 66.8% and 45.7%, respectively, accounting for 40.9%, 13.2%, 12.3% respectively of China’s total imports and exports of agricultural products to CEECs in the same month.
