Deputy Commissioner of the General Administration of Customs of China Wu Haiping in Talks with Swiss, Bulgarian Authorities

From October 13 to 18, Wu Haiping, Deputy Commissioner of the General Administration of Customs of China, led a delegation on an official visit to Switzerland and Bulgaria, engaging with counterpart authorities and relevant international organizations.

During the visit, Deputy Commissioner Wu Haiping paid a courtesy call upon invitation to Tomislav Donchev, the Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria. He also met with senior officials from the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), exchanging views on key areas such as trade facilitation and Customs-related intellectual property rights protection.In addition, Vice Minister Wu conducted in-depth discussions with the heads of Customs as well as inspection and quarantine authorities of Switzerland and Bulgaria. The talks covered a broad agenda, including the implementation of Global Governance Initiative, upholding the multilateral trading system, advancing the Import & Export Food Safety Mechanism of the Belt & Road Initiative, facilitating the export of agricultural and food products to China, promoting the“Smart Customs” initiative, and enhancing anti-smuggling enforcement. Suchmeetings culminated in the signing of phytosanitary protocols for the export of specific agricultural and food products to China with the respective foreign counterparts.

The delegation also met with representatives from the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, conducted field visits to local agricultural and food export enterprises, as well as Customs inspection and quarantine facilities, and held working discussions with the head of Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and senior officials of the Chinese Embassies in the two countries.
