Customs statistics show that the total value of bilateral trade between China and Central and Eastern European countries (hereinafter referred to as CEE) was RMB 753.81 billion in the first three quarters of 2024, a year-on-year increase (the same below) of 7.4%. Among them, the value of exports to CEE reached RMB 584.13 billion, with an increase of 6.2%; the value of imports from CEE reached RMB 169.68 billion, with an increase of 11.6%.
The main features of bilateral trade between China and CEE in the first three quarters of 2024 are as follows:
(I) Mechanical & electrical products and labor-intensive products were the main exported products.
In the first three quarters of 2024, China exported RMB 402.95 billion of mechanical and electrical products to CEE, an increase of 6.5%, accounting for 69% of the gross export value (the same below) from China to CEE in the same period. Among them, the value of electrical equipment & material reached RMB 45.16 billion, a decrease of 14.2%; the value of automatic data processing equipment and its parts and components reached RMB 40.12 billion, an increase of 12.1%. Over the same period, the export of labor-intensive products amounted to RMB 98.56 billion, an increase of 8.3%, accounting for 16.9%. Among them, the value of textile and garment reached RMB 46.41 billion, an increase of 3.5%; the value of plastic products reached RMB 15.27 billion, an increase of 19.3%. In addition, the export of agricultural products reached RMB 7.01 billion, with an increase of 0.5%, accounting for 1.2%; the value of food reached RMB 3.59 billion, with an increase of 20.6%, accounting for 0.6%.
(II) Mechanical & electrical products, metallic mineral ores, and copper materials were the main imported products.
In the first three quarter of 2024, China imported RMB 119.91 billion of mechanical and electrical products from CEE, an increase of 13.7%, accounting for 70.7% of the gross import value (the same below) from CEE to China over the same period. Among them, the value of auto parts reached RMB 29.98 billion, an increase of 48.1%; the value of automobiles reached RMB 24.76 billion, a decrease of 3%. In the same period, the value of imported metal ore and ore sand reached RMB 12.67 billion, with an increase of 20.1%, accounting for 7.5%; the value of unwrought copper and copper material reached RMB 6.58 billion, with an increase of 23.6%, accounting for 3.9%. In addition, the import of agricultural products amounted to RMB 3.25 billion, a decrease of 36.2%, accounting for 1.9%; the value of import was RMB 1.66 billion, a decrease of 51.9%, accounting for 1%.
(III) Poland, the Czech Republic, and Hungary were the top three trading partners.
In the first three quarter of 2024, China's imports from and exports to Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary were RMB 239.38 billion, 119.12 billion and RMB 85.63 billion respectively, with an increase of 7.6%, 7.7%, and 12.5% respectively, accounting for 31.8%, 15.8% and 11.4% of China's gross import-export value from and to CEE over the same period.
