According to Customs statistics, the total value of bilateral trade between China and Central and Eastern European countries (hereinafter referred to as CEECs) was RMB70.46 billion in April 2022, with a year-on-year increase (similarly hereinafter) of 4.6%,including the value of exports to CEECs of RMB50.99 billion with an increase of 6.9% and the value of imports from CEECs of RMB19.47 billion with a decrease of 0.8%.
In the first four months of 2022, the total value of bilateral trade between China and CEECs was RMB284.03 billion, an increase of 9.7%. Among them, the value of exports to CEECs reached RMB216.78 billion, an increase of 16%; The value of imports from CEECs reached RMB67.25 billion, a decrease of 6.5%.
The main features are as follows:
1. Mechanical and electrical products and labor-intensive products dominated the exports.
In April 2022, China exported RMB34.94 billion of mechanical and electrical products to CEECs, an increase of 2.8%, accounting for 68.5% of the total value of exports to CEECs from China (the same below) in the same month. Among them, the value of electrical equipments reached RMB4.68 billion, an increase of 33.1%; The value of automatic data processing machines and parts thereof reached RMB3.61 billion, a decrease of 1.4%. Over the same period, the export of labor-intensive products amounted to RMB8.09 billion, an increase of 15.3%, accounting for 15.9%. Among them, the value of garments and clothing accessories reached RMB2.45 billion, an increase of 64.4%; The value of textile yarn, fabrics and articles thereof reached RMB1.54 billion, a decrease of 3%. The export of agricultural products amounted to RMB600 million, an increase of 58.9%, accounting for 1.2% of the gross value of exports to CEECs from China; The export of food amounted to RMB310 million, an increase of 14.8%. In addition, the export of steel amounted to RMB590 million, an increase of 67.5%, and the export of basic organic chemicals amounted to RMB550 million, an increase of 10.1%.
2. Mechanical and electrical products, metal mines and ores, copper dominated the imports.
In April 2022, China imported RMB14.67 billion of mechanical and electrical products from CEE, an increase of 3.5%, accounting for 75.3% of the gross value of imports from CEECs to China (the same below) in the same month. Among them, the value of passenger cars reached RMB6.63 billion, an increase of 55.7%; The value of auto parts and accessories reached RMB2.23 billion, a decrease of 25.8%. In the same period, the value of imported metal mines and ores reached RMB840 million, an increase of 153.4%, accounting for 4.3% of the gross value of imports from CEECs to China; The value of imported unwrought copper and copper material reached RMB710 million, a decrease of 44.3%, accounting for 3.7% of the gross value of imports from CEECs to China. In addition, the import of agricultural products amounted to RMB350 million, a decrease of 15.6%, accounting for 1.8% of the gross value of imports from CEECs to China; The import of food amounted to RMB200 million, a decrease of 37.5%, accounting for 1% of the gross value of imports from CEECs to China.
3. Poland, Czech and Slovakia were the top three trading partners.
In April 2022, China's imports from and exports to Poland, Czech, and Slovakia amounted to RMB19.84 billion, RMB10.62 billion, and RMB8.91 billion respectively, a decrease of 8.2%, an increase of 0.4%, and an increase of 30% respectively, accounting for 28.2%, 15.1% and 12.6% of China's gross import-export value from and to CEECs in the same month, respectively.
