Customs statistics show that the total value of agricultural products between China and Central and Eastern European countries (hereinafter referred to as CEE) was RMB 1.36 billion in October 2023, an increase of 48.9% over the same period last year (the same below). Among them, the export of agricultural products to CEE reached RMB 940 million, with an increase of 34.3%; the import of agricultural products from CEE reached RMB 420 million, with an increase of 95.8%.
The main features of agricultural product trade between China and CEE in October 2023 are as follows:
(I) E-cigarette cartridges (nicotine-containing), edible aquatic products, and dried and fresh fruits & nuts were the main exported products.
In October 2023, China exported RMB 940 million of agricultural products to CEE, an increase of 34.3%, accounting for 1.7% of the gross value of exports to CEE from China in the same month. Among them, the nicotine-containing products used to make e-cigarette cartridges amounted to RMB 290 million, an increase of 48.3%; edible aquatic products RMB 87.449 million, an increase of 27.1%; dried and fresh fruits and nuts RMB 57.695 million, an increase of 206.2%.
(II) Oil cake of sunflower seeds, dairy products and sunflower seeds were the main imported products.
In October 2023, China imported RMB 420 million of agricultural products from CEE, an increase of 95.8%, accounting for 2% of the gross value of imports from CEE to China in the same month. Among them, the value of oil cake of sunflower seeds was RMB 200 million, with no import in the same period of last year; the value of dairy products was RMB 53.363 million, a decrease of 20.4%; the value of sunflower seeds reached RMB 28.992 million, an increase of 175.1%.
(III) Poland, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic were the top three agricultural product trading partners.
In October 2023, China’s imports and exports of agricultural products from and to Poland, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic amounted to RMB 480 million, RMB 300 million, and RMB 120 million respectively, with an increase of 10.6%, an increase of 346.9%, and an increase of 81.1% respectively, accounting for 35.6%, 21.7% and 8.6% respectively of China’s gross import-export value of agricultural products from and to CEE in the same month.
