Briefing on Agricultural Trade between China and CEECs in February 2022

According to Customs statistics, the total value of agricultural product trade between China and Central and Eastern European countries (hereinafter referred to as CEECs) was RMB550 million in February 2022, a year-on-year decrease (similarly hereinafter) of 3%. Among them, the export of agricultural products to CEECs amounted to RMB360 million, an increase of 25.8%; The import of agricultural products from CEECs reached RMB190 million, a decrease of 31.8%.


The main features are as follows:


1. Electronic cigarette cartridges, chemically modified fats and oils, aquatic products were the main exported products.


In February 2022, China exported RMB360 million of agricultural products to CEECs, an increase of 25.8%, accounting for 0.7% of the gross value of exports to CEECs from China in the same month. Among them, the export of nicotine-containing electronic cigarette cartridges and similar products totaled RMB33.801 million; chemically modified fats and oils amounted to RMB33.384 million, up 107.8%; the export of edible water products reached RMB29.37 million, down 22.8%.


2. Dairy products, sunflower seeds, and beef were the main imported products.


In February 2022, China imported RMB190 million of agricultural products from CEECs, an decrease of 31.8%, accounting for 1.2% of the gross value of imports from CEECs to China in the same month. Among them, the import of dairy products reached RMB47.348 million, down 46.8%; the import of sunflower seeds totaled RMB33.553 million, up 33.1%; the import of beef amounted to RMB24.837 million, up 494%.


3. Poland, Romania and Bulgaria were the top three agricultural product trading partners.


In February 2022, China's imports from and exports to Poland, Romania, and Bulgaria amounted to RMB200 million, RMB66.321 million, and RMB54.295 million respectively, with a decrease of 7.1%, an increase of 76.4%, and a decrease of 9.5% respectively. They respectively accounting for 36.1%, 12% and 9.8% of China's gross import-export value of agricultural products from and to CEECs in the same month.
