Description of content: Import requirements and internal measures are put in place in relation to Meloidogyne graminicola (Golden & Birchfield).

Objective and rationale: [ ] food safety, [ ] animal health, [X] plant protection, [ ] protect humans from animal/plant pest or disease, [ ] protect territory from other damage from pests.

Nature of the urgent problem(s) and reason for urgent action: To date the pest has been found in a restricted area in Italy. Because of the polyphagous nature of the pest and the uncertainty of its worldwide distribution, urgent measures are taken to prevent the further introduction into and spread of this pest within the European Union.
