According to Customs statistics, the total value of the agricultural product trade between China and Central and Eastern European countries (hereinafter referred to as CEECs) was RMB13 billion in 2022, with an increase of 32.1% over 2021 (similarly hereinafter). Among them, the value of agricultural products exported to CEECs reached RMB8.43 billion, an increase of 69%; the value of agricultural products imported from CEECs reached RMB4.57 billion, with a decrease of 5.9%.
The main features of the agricultural product trade between China and CEECs in 2022 are as follows:
1. Electronic cigarette cartridges, chemically modified grease, aquatic products were the main exported products.
In 2022, China exported RMB8.43 billion of agricultural products to CEECs, with an increase of 69%, accounting for 1.2% of the gross export value from China to CEECs over the same period. Among them, the value of nicotine-containing electronic cigarette cartridges and similar products reached RMB1.61 billion; the value of chemically modified grease reached RMB1.04 billion, with an increase of 132.7%; aquatic products reached RMB800 million, with an increase of 2.9%.
2. Oil cake of sunflower seeds, dairy products, and corn were the main imported products.
In 2022, China imported RMB4.57 billion of agricultural products from CEECs, with a decrease of 5.9%, accounting for 2.2% of the gross import value from CEECs to China over the same period. Among them, the value of oil cake of sunflower seeds reached RMB1.34 billion, with an increase of 110.3%; the value of dairy products reached RMB1.07 billion, with a decrease of 20.4%; the value of corn reached RMB320 million, with an increase of 11.9%.
3. Poland, Bulgaria and Romania were the top three agricultural product trading partners.
In 2022, China's imports and exports of agricultural products from and to Poland, Bulgaria and Romania were RMB4.19 billion, RMB2.73 billion and RMB1.98 billion respectively, with an increase of 13%, 64.6% and 83.3% respectively, accounting for 32.3%, 21% and 15.2% of China's gross import-export value of agricultural products from and to CEECs over the same period.
